After heat treatment and hardness verification, the component proceeds to the Shot Blasting process. This stage is performed to clean the surface, remove oxide scale, residual contaminants, and surface impurities resulting from forging and heat treatment.
Shot blasting is carried out using a controlled blasting machine that propels abrasive media (steel shots) at high velocity onto the surface of the component. The impact of the abrasive particles effectively removes scale, rust, and surface discoloration while improving overall surface uniformity.
In addition to cleaning, the shot blasting process also enhances surface condition by creating a consistent surface profile. This improves surface inspection visibility and prepares the component for subsequent processes such as machining, coating, painting, or non-destructive testing (NDT).
Process parameters such as blasting time, abrasive size, projection speed, and coverage are carefully controlled to ensure effective cleaning without damaging the base material. Operators also conduct visual inspection after blasting to confirm that the surface condition meets internal quality standards and customer requirements.
Through systematic shot blasting procedures, we ensure improved surface cleanliness, better inspection accuracy, and readiness for the next stage of production while maintaining product quality and traceability.
